International PhD programs

'Vodovod (Wall Variation II)' by Biljana Jancic, SCA
At present there are varying terminal degree programs in Australia, North America and Europe ranging from the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) to PhDs. In the US, the College Art Association (CAA) policy on teaching in studio programs still recognises the MFA as the only terminal degree. While in Europe many academies are under going a transformation as the impact of the Bologna Agreement and the EU Directive on Recognition of Professional Qualifications, a European Union (EU) treaty that calls for the reform of higher education and the standardisation of all degrees across the EU is implemented.
An investigation of the PhD programs at the following institutions will bring an international perspective to the project.
